INSIGHTS

from Two Savvy Travelers...

What's Best for travelers on a budget? Great deals are out there, if you know where to look and when to go!

If you want to save on one of a dozen cruise ships that offer seven-night itineraries, you'll save the most, if you book early. You'll find your best prices, late summer or in the fall for the following year, especially if you want the widest choice of available cabins. Both the least and most expensive cabins sell out months before sailing.

Insight:: Prices go up as the season goes on. For the best deals, and a wider choice of accommodations book early.

If you booked a year in advance, an inside cabin might cost you around $650.00 per person for a 7 day cruise. The same interior cabin, booked 4 months prior to sailing may cost you double that amount.
Balcony cabins are the most popular, with Mountain, Glacier and Wildlife views. Prices rise as available inventory shrinks, as well as when you travel. Off peak months of April, early May and two weeks in September are cheaper than in the peak travel months of June July, and August.
If you have the time, consider a cruisetour. A cruisetour is a combination of a 7 day cruise and a 10 -17 day land tour of interior Alaska. You don't want to miss taking a train ride up to Denali National Park and Preserve and a chance at a spectacular view of Denali, North America's largest peak Holland America Line and Princess Cruises both offer cruisetours. Both cruise lines have their own lodges, glass-domed railcars and motorcoaches for your exploration of Alaska's interior.

Insight:: Denali creates it's own unique weather, so it can be surrounded by clouds.

7 to 14-night cruise itineraries take you to Alaskan ports of call such as Skagway, Ketchikan, Juneau or Sitka from Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco or Whittier, Alaska. On 10 to 17 night land and sea cruisetours, you can add an overnight in Anchorage, a visit to Denali National Park and even farther north to Fairbanks, or go off the beaten path all the way to Arctic Alaska. You can choose from cruisetours that take you to the Canadian Yukon, from Alaska to northwestern Canada, following the prospectors' route during the time of the Klondike Gold Rush Or choose to visit four of Alaska's most popular national parks: Glacier Bay National Park, Denali National Park & Preserve , the Kenai Fjords and, Wrangell-St. Elias National park.

For our active guests there are a variety of hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing and zip lining cruise ship excursions in most of our Alaskan ports. For fishing enthusiasts, the many options including salmon fishing, Halibut fishing, skiff crabbing, skiff fishing, fly fishing, or spin fishing. Fishing shore excursions are offered in Juneau, Ketchikan and Sitka.

"Hi Marty! When I originally started to research cruises and Travel Agents to help with the process, I was overwhelmed (Let's face it, sometimes the internet can be a good thing and sometimes it can be a bad thing).  I am so happy that I can across your website. I sure didn't expect the response that I received from our family and friends when I started planning the cruise, and you were there every step of the way putting up with my cabin changes, adding new guests at the last moment, and removing guests in some cases, too! You were amazing and I know for a fact that you are responsible for our worry-free and amazing journey. Everyone that joined us on the cruise was extremely impressed at how well the whole thing fell together with little trouble on their parts. Again I can not thank you enough, and don't forget that we will be planning another one !"

"What can I say. We felt like we were on a National Geographic cruise. Eagles, whales, sea lions, moose, bear and caribou; we saw them all. We had the best weather imaginable too. Both days at McKinley were cloudless! We saw the whole mountain range morning, noon and night and night and night! The position of our room was great, 11th floor mid ship. We loved it."
